We offer a one day Career Assessment Testing workshop and a two week Career by Design workshop.

Need a new resume or help with cover letters? Opportunities Career Services can help. We produce professional, polished resumes that can help get your foot in the door of a prospective employer. We can also help you write winning cover letters that will convince prospective employers to read your resume.

Opportunities Career Services offers one day workshops in resumes and cover letters.

Career Resource Centre

resource3.jpg Opportunities Career Services Career Resource Centre is an excellent place to do work search or career research. The Career Resource Centre operates on a drop-in basis and staff are available to assist you with your career exploration and work search needs.

The Career Resource Centre includes:
  • Job board with recent openings from local employers and the HRDC Job Bank, plus newspaper classified help wanted ads
  • Daily newspapers:Vancouver, Victoria, and local
  • Extensive college and university calendars
  • Resources for career exploration
  • Books and videos on job search, career planning, and entrepreneurship
  • Community, Vancouver Island, and other provincial directories
  • Computers for Internet access (job search and career research), word processing,Please Understand Me (personality assessment), BRIDGES (a career exploration program), and tutorials in typing and Wordperfect
  • Long distance phone service (work search or career research)

Workshops

Opportunities Career Services offers several workshops, ranging from one day to four weeks in length, designed to meet people's work search and career planning needs. The workshops are free to anyone who is on Employment Insurance or Income Assistance. Please note that these programs are very active and require full time commitment to ensure success.

  • Local colleges offer a number of excellent programs and courses, and some course credits can be transferred to universities

  • If you're thinking about going back to school but you haven't decided on a career path, Opportunities Career Services Career by Design workshop (2 weeks) or Career Assessment Testing (1 day) can help you get started.
